The Kamloops Rube Band dropped in on the Kamloops Community Band “Play Like The Dickens” fundraiser concert. What’s a concert without a half-time show? We love supporting young musicians and it id doesn’t get much better than the Richard Dickens Music Scholarship and the Donald Bennet Music Legacy Fund. The main stage was home to the Kamloops Community Band, Beyond Brass, and the Brook Middle School Jazz band. While they reset the stage from the concert band to stage band setup, we surprised the audience from the foyer. It was great fun and well received.

That’s A Wrap On Christmas 2023
The Kamloops Rube Band was busy this Christmas season. The season started with the Kamloops Santa Parade in November, followed by some Christmas cheer at the Seniors’ Lights Tour, and providing some festive season entertainment at three seniors’ residences in December. For several musicians, this was on top performances with other musical groups in the city. Entertaining and bringing smiles is our gift to the community. We can all use a little more cheer in our lives. Thank you for supporting us! See you in the New Year!
Honouring Our Veterans
The Kamloops Rube Band had the privilege of honouring our veterans by playing at the Kamloops 2023 Remembrance Day ceremonies at River Side Park. Following the ceremonies, the band played at the Legion and ANAVets. Our repertoire included regimental marches and some old favorites. It was the least we could do for those who have given so much for our freedom. Thank you for letting us be a part of your day.
Poker Run 2023!
The Poker Run is part of the annual Kamloops Hot Nights in the City Car Show, bringing fond memories and smiles to those who can’t easily wander the show downtown. While the old cars and hot rods rolled past the Chartwell Residences in Aberdeen, the Kamloops Rube band entertained the crowds will they dug into ribs and fixings.
Canada Day – Rube Style
The Kamloops Rube Band had the pleasure of performing on the main stage and the second stage (photo above) at the 2023 Kamloops Canada Day Celebrations. Many thanks to the Kamloops Multicultural Society for inviting us to entertain the crowds with our brand of musical fun.
Memorial Cup!
Kamloops, BC – May 26 and June 4, 2023
The Kamloops Rube Band had the honour of entertaining the crowds waiting in line to see the opening and closing games of the Memorial Cup Hockey Tournament at the Sandman Centre in downtown Kamloops. Except for our drummers, we left our sticks at home, though there may have been the odd elbow from the clarinet section. The brass was well-behaved as usual. I fully expect some suitably entertaining photographs or videos of the event to show up here soon. Meeting up with people who hadn’t heard us in a few years was fun. There is nothing like playing for an appreciative crowd. We may even have drummed up so future gigs (all puns intended). A big thank you to the Memorial Cup organizers for including us in the festivities!
Water Park Grand Opening
The Kamloops Rube Band had the honour of entertaining children and adults alike at the grand opening of the new water park at Riverside Park in Kamloops on May 20th. No, we didn’t play in the water. We left that for the kids who had a blast. Truth be told, I’m not sure they heard us much over their squeals and screams of delight. Hey, this was all about the kids, but we like to think the adults appreciated a little musical frivolity. A big thank you to the city of Kamloops for inviting us and for their continued support as your musical ambassadors.
While the music was awesome, the star of the show was the opening of the water park…not that it happened quite the way it was supposed to. It seems one or more of the kids figured out how to turn the water on before the speeches. Can’t really blame them. Imagine being an twelve year old with the option of listening to speeches or playing in the water. Ha! A little program improvisation stole the show. Honest, it wasn’t a Rube member…not that I would put any of us above such things, but we try to keep the improvisation to the music…and costumes…and…okay, just about everything.
Senior’s Christmas Lights Tour
The band was delighted to play for the Senior’s Christmas Lights Tour at Sandman Center in Kamloops. There’s nothing like playing for a group of happy festive people doing what we do best.
Remembrance Day
The Kamloops Rube Band was honoured to participate in the Remembrance Day ceremony at the Cenotaph in River Side Park. After, we had the pleasure of entertaining veterans and guests alike at the legion. May we never forget the sacrifices of those who have served.
Canada Day 2022
The band is back! We had a blast playing on the band shell stage at Riverside Park in Kamloops.
